If laughing is good for your health, I’ll live forever after spending the day with Lindsey and Jon.  Their wedding day was relaxed and full of genuine affection.  Warm families, hilarious friends.    I love what I do!

Here are some of my faves from the day:

Jon reading the card that Lindsey sent up to his room at the Hilton.

This was shot by my third-shooter Magnus.  This was his first wedding with me and my second shooter Scott, and I’m so happy with his work that day.

Lindsey and Jon chose to have a “First Look” moment before the ceremony and formal portraits.  I love when couples do it this way. They still get their anticipatory moment together, while still getting all of the photography out of the way early in the day while makeup and hair are still fresh.  This creates a quick transition between the ceremony and reception.  I’m a fan.

My favorite shot from the day.  Classic.

Love this relaxed portrait of the girls hanging out.

So pretty!

This was right before the processional started.  Maybe one of my favorite candid moments I’ve ever caught.  Lindsey’s grandfather is so sweet.

Jon is usually all laughs, but emotions got the best of him at the alter.  I did the same thing, Jon.  It’s all good!

The trolley dropped us off at Gratz Park for a few minutes while the guests shuttled over to the reception at Arts Place.

Below is the slideshow.  Do me a favor?  After you watch it, I’d love to hear from you all—especially Lindsey’s and Jon’s family and friends.  I had so much fun with you all.  Please leave a comment below and hook up with me through Facebook and Twitter.  Take care, y’all!  –shaun

  • I wanted to clarify a statement Shaun made above…my allergies were acting up during the ceremony…the pollen count must have been dangerously high that day in the Bluegrass. With that all cleared up, Shaun we love you. Great work my friend. I have to run now, my allergies are getting the best of me again!

  • Shaun, what a wonderful fun night. You did a terrific job and captured the magic perfectly. Thank you for being such a special part of the wedding. I think we might make you an honorary family member!

Just fabulous Shaun! You captured all the beauty of the day. It was a delight to work with you and your team.

  • [...] encounter I’ve had with Bennett and Marshall has left me smiling. We met first at Lindsey’s and Jon’s wedding in May of 2010. If you look at that slideshow, you’ll find a shot of Bennett stealing a bite [...]

Since launching my new blog last April, I’ve posted 100 times.  Today marks my 101 post.  With that in mind, I thought it would be fun to have a little fun with it and announce a 101-related contest.  Here’s the skinny:

I’m a list person.  I’m also a dreamer.  I love putting goals in writing, because there’s nothing more satisfying that crossing one off when it’s complete.  The added benefit?  Writing down your goals/dreams prepares your subconscious for the work it is about to initiate.  I really do believe that.  I’ve seen it in action.

The mother of all lists is the 101 in 1001 list.  It’s a way to get in writing 101 things you want to accomplish in the next 1001 days.  The thinking is this—Instead of having one or two big goals to accomplish in a year (New Year’s anyone?), why not put down everything big and small you can possibly think of, and give yourself almost 3 years to get there?  I love the concept.

So here’s the contest:

1)Create your own 101 in 1001 list.

2)Create an account on this website: http://www.dayzeroproject.com and enter your list.

3)Go to the comments section of this post and leave me your name/email addy.

4)Email me at shaun@shaunringphotography.com with a link to your list.  If you’d prefer to keep it confidential, print out your list, take a picture of yourself with it, and email me before the deadline.  If you feel like sharing your list with everyone, feel free to post your link in the comments section, too.

4)The deadline to create and post your list is exactly 101 hours from right now.  That means that the contest will end at 9:00PM Tuesday May 25th, 2010.

5)Prizes:  All participants will be entered into a random drawing for a free 1-hour session with me.  You can use your hour however you wish.

6)Bonus prize:  For the first 101 people that participate, I will set up a time one day this summer during which I will attempt to photograph all 101 people individually (headshots) in under 101 minutes.   I’ve got to have 101 folks, though, to make this work.  Sound fun?  Then spread the word!

To start things off, HERE is a link to my list, just in case you’re looking for inspiration for your own.

And because I’m a big believer in putting pen to paper when writing goals, here’s a shot of my 101 in 1001 list I completed this morning.

Alright?  Ready.  Set.  Go!

If you’ve been reading my blog for awhile, you might remember my maternity session with Chelsea and Sean last year before Langley was born.  I can’t believe it’s been a year already.  Chelsea asked me if I’d be up for photographing Langley’s first birthday party.  That’s a really special thing!  I’m flattered!

Below you’ll find some of my favorites and a slideshow.  I’d love to hear from everybody afterward, so please leave a comment and hook up with me on Facebook and Twitter.  I had a lot of fun with Chelsea’s and Sean’s families.  Great people.  I hope they’ll stay in touch!

And the slideshow….Enjoy!
