Me? I’m a husband to Katie and a father to Carson. I’m a lover of the human condition. I love challenges, so I tend to wear many hats. I’m always looking for the good around me and inside the people I meet. If I could name my style of photography? I’d call it photo-optimism.
I smile. Alot. I think it might look crazy sometimes, but I’m okay with that. I’m pretty laid back. If my life were a song, it’d be a Jack Johnson tune—maybe Jason Mraz. I’m from a smaller town just east of Lexington. I’m proud to be from Kentucky. We’ve got some gorgeous scenery for sure, but we’re most rich in our people. Great folks around here.
I’m a sap. Honestly. Sometimes I sing along to the father-daughter dances while I’m shooting—not too loud, though. :) I’m a collector of memories and awesome people. I guess that’s why I love photography. Sometimes I have to really stop and catch my breath when I realize what I’m doing behind a camera. I cannot tell you what it feels like to know that my images will outlive me. Crazy.
I love coffee. I like it even better when I’m drinking it with other people. I’m a learner. I ask tons of questions. I try to stay on the front end of technology, especially when it helps me with efficiency. I want to pack an insane amount of love, relationships, experiences and knowledge into my life. That’s the good stuff!
Kids and dogs like me. That makes family photography fun. I might just be the most uncoordinated person you’ll meet, though. Ask me about sports news, and I’m likely to look at you blankly—though still smiling. hahaha
I’m a Counting Crows fan from way back, but not so much nowadays. I listen to AM radio late at night while I photo edit (C2C anyone?), and I crank the top 40 while I’m driving. I’ve got a soft spot for rap. I’m not exactly gangsta, though. Think Samir from Office Space. I prefer comedies and chick flicks to action and dramas. I never recognize any of the movies up for Oscars, though I’m sure they’re all really great.
I’m an emotional eater. Whether I’m bored, excited, busy, bummed, anxious or stoked, you’ll probably find me snacking. I can totally enjoy and appreciate the finer cuisines, but I’m such a sucker for the salty and fatty comfort foods.
I’m keenly aware that there’s something awesome going on within and around us. I’ve got deep-seated beliefs, but I’m not quite sure that the box isn’t bigger. What I do know is this—I’ve never been happier. I’m surrounded by incredible people and I’m having one heck of a ride so far in this life.
I talk too much and pretend to be better at writing than I am. Ha!
