Kentucky Photographer: Lexington Family Portraits

Jennifer and Nick have been in my life since 2008 when I photographed their wedding. The now have a sweet little one-year-old, so the Cooper-Ring photographic saga continues…LOL

I love this shot of Kayden.

Cousin Audrey dropped in. What’s funny is that I have similar shot from Audrey’s session last spring when Kayden stopped by. I hope we can continue this crying together tradition all the way through high school!

Kayden had an ear infection, so there were a couple points during the shoot that he needed some extra love. Audrey noticed, too, and offered to share a chicken nugget and ball. Sweet, right?

This helped, too.

Classic.

My son Carson has always loved his mama’s hair, so I totally recognize moments like this.

Nick’s band This Season’s Color will be releasing its new album soon. I’ve listened to it, and it’s pretty amazing. These guys have some chops, for sure!

Kayden likes music, too.

Lexington Newborn Photography

I had the chance recently to connect with a wonderful family here in Lexington. One that had just brought home one sweet baby Davis. She surprised us by sleeping through nearly the entire session, except the end while in her parents’ arms. Pretty perfect.

To Laura and Russ—You’re doing awesome! By now I’m sure you’re experts! Soak up these early days while Davis is so cuddly. It won’t be long til she’ll be racing around…lol. I’ll look forward to working with you through the years!

Lexington Kentucky Baby Photography Studio

Jill brought Greer by the studio recently for his 6 month portraits. As much as I love photographing families and kids outdoors, I’m a sucker for shots like these at the studio. They’re just so timeless.

Elizabethtown Newborn Photography

The last couple posts have mentioned my long-term relationships with customers. It kind of feels weird even calling them customers at this point, though.

Shannon and John, you are perfect examples of this. I love that you’ve regularly called me for photography throughout the last several years. From Jackson toddling around, to John h0lding newborn Cooper in the hospital, I’ve enjoyed recording the love in your family. Katie and I are so happy for you to have Evelyn in your lives now. What a perfect fit to an already-awesome family dynamic.

We miss you!

To sweet baby Evelyn….You are precious. Enjoy all that sleep. You’ll soon need the energy to keep up with Jackson and Cooper.

Bardstown Family Photography

I photographed Lauren’s and Shelby’s wedding, hmm….wow—5 years ago. Yikes. Time really is moving quickly. Since then, they’ve moved to Bardstown, opened their own dentistry business, and they’ve welcomed two amazing children into the world—Nate and Luke. They’re doing an awesome job keeping it all balanced, too.

1st Birthday in Northern KY

Coolest part of my job? Becoming part of family history.

Summer 2008: Allison and Nick are married in Lexington
Spring 2010: Allison’s brother Ryan marries Cynthia in San Juan, Puerto Rico
Summer 2010: Allison and Nick bring Baby Audrey home from the hospital
Fall 2010: Allison gets her MBA and Nick passes the bar exam. Graduation party ensues on a riverboat in Cincy.

And I was there with camera in hand. Cool, eh?

Now I can add one more date to the list. May 1st, 2011, I spent the afternoon with Allison and Nick in their new house in northern Kentucky celebrating Audrey’s first birthday.

Newborn Baby Nolan

In this recent post, I mentioned how much I appreciated the work that Michelle and her husband Nathan put into making sure the studio’s launch party was a success. I couldn’t believe that they wanted to help out so much, knowing full well that Michelle was having her second baby soon. By mid-afternoon that next day, baby Nolan was here. That’s crazy!

Here are a few pics from my session with Nolan a few days later. Let me tell you…Michelle and Nathan are awesome parents. When I arrived, Nathan was playing with Gibson while Michelle was feeding Nolan. Tag team, back again!

And they’re just so sweet with their kiddos. We talked about parenting for awhile, and as it turns out, we’ve got pretty similar parenting styles. That makes me smile!

To Michelle and Nathan—Thanks for inviting me into your lives. You’re good people, and I’m proud to call you friends. Talk to you soon!

Kentucky Baby and Family Photography: Lexington

I met Kelli and Chandler while photographing their friends’ wedding back in 2008 (hey Jennifer and Nick!), and it was one of those things where you just know that you’d click with someone. We’ve stayed in touch, and now that they have sweet baby Waverly in their lives, it was time for a photography session. Being around them is easy. They’re nice, easy-going folks, full of love and life. Waverly was exceptionally good at finding the camera lens and smiling at it. I’m guessing that maybe Kelli’s been playing the role of lead photographer at home.

Hey Kelli…My assistant Candi wants to know where she can get her hands on boots like yours. Let me know!

It was freezing that day, before taking some shots of just the two of them, Kelli and Chandler bundled up Waverly in her car seat. I couldn’t resist grabbing this shot.

Jeremy and Kelley recently added beautiful baby Caroline to their family and asked if I’d swing by and do a session. I’ve been photographing this family for a couple years now, and they’ve become special to me. Their first son Jackson’s newborn session. Jackson’s baptism. Spring and Fall family portraits. I love that they keep including me in the documenting of these important times.

Newborn Photography: Lexington, KY

Our friends Tiffiney and George just brought home their newest sweet baby—Spencer. I dropped by last week to document some sleepy moments from day 10. I love thinking about how big this world must seem to him, and what he’s thinking about when he’s smiling in his sleep. He’s got a great life ahead of him, full of love from his mom and dad and five siblings.

Before I show you my favorite images from this session, let me just be really up front and honest. I’m not a natural when it comes to photographing newborns. I’m really happy with how these turned out, but I could not have done this without the help of my friend and uber-talented photographer Aseel Gomez. I’m prone to use hyperbole in my writing, but not here with what I’m about to say about Aseel. It’s a fact….There is no better newborn photographer in Lexington than Aseel. At all. Not even close.

Aseel came out to Tiffiney’s and George’s home to help me with the shoot. I was behind the camera, but she worked all the magic. She’s got the gift. Like a baby-whisperer. Thank you, Aseel.
