One of my coolest family sessions ever was the one I shot with the Carey Family. Last year, they had me come out to their house in both the morning and the evening for a session. It was a fun way to capture their at-home dynamic and it resulted in some really fun, relaxed portraits in the evening, since the kiddos were already used to me by the second session. I was such a fan of it that I came up with a contest for readers to help me name the session. Some brilliant soul came up with The Daily Groove—which I love. It embodies the day-to-day laid-back feel that I think is so important to capture.
The best part about cool families is that they usually have really cool extended family and friends. Sarah shared her family portrait experience with her cool sister-in-law Elizabeth, who then hired me to come out and shoot a similar style session. We started off at the Nahra home in the morning for playtime, and we wrapped up with a trip to Ecton Park in Chevy Chase. These three boys were a trip to be around! So much fun!
To Elizabeth and Tyler—Thank you for inviting me into your lives! Your boys are each so perfectly unique, and you do a great job of fostering their individuality. Kudos!
To the families/friends of the Nahras—Please stay connect with me! Whether it’s through email, Facebook or Twitter, I’d love to stay in touch! Thanks for stopping by! -shaun
Oops.
Everyone should have a super-hero cape, right? If you see me out next week with one, don’t judge me!

Yeah so good makes me want to do it again today! My favorite is hands down the one of Jake sitting in the car leaning over the dash with his arms folded over looking straight at you!! Maybe we can get our acts together for a second go round soon. While the girls (and mommy) are still a little sun kissed. I think of some where else fun to shoot this time-I have a few more tricks up my sleeve.
